We live quality tooling. For 4 generations.
WE LIVE QUALITY TOOLING

WE HAVE THE TYPICAL SWABIAN TALENT FOR INVENTIVENESS. AND WE ARE PROUD OF IT.

We don't talk about quality, we invent it. For 4 generations we have been developing tool systems that always give our customers the edge over the competition. To achieve this, we combine innovative ideas with quality, durability and process reliability. How do we do that? Quite simply, we remain flexible, sharp and agile. Our corporate structures are designed to respond quickly and efficiently to customer needs. Our passion is to fill niches and market gaps with unique tool systems.

We do not think in terms of quarterly figures but in terms of long-term success. That’s what makes us different from the others. And that's the reason for the outstanding quality that ARNO customers appreciate and receive with every purchase.

Because »WE LIVE QUALITY TOOLING«.

We live quality tooling. For 4 generations.

“When we develop something for a customer, the result should be so good, even perfectionists wouldn’t be able to find a reason to grumble.”

As a family-owned company, we want to be the first point of contact for our customers for difficult machining solutions.

COMPANY FOUNDER EMIL ARNOLD

Emil Arnold (* 24.07.1904) founded Emil Arnold Lehrenbau in Esslingen am Neckar in 1941. He had previously trained as a master toolmaker at Bosch.

Initially, he mainly manufactured measuring devices and test gauges. He quickly made a name for himself thanks to the outstanding quality of his products. Especially because he is responsive to his customers and fulfils their wishes precisely.

Together with his son Karl-Heinz Arnold, he puts his heart and soul into the company and is always open to new developments. He has the vision of being represented with his tools in the production facilities of all countries and industries.

1962 - 1966

KARL-HEINZ ARNOLD GMBH

Karl-Heinz Arnold founds the company Karl-Heinz Arnold GmbH on 1 April 1962, which is primarily dedicated to the sale of carbide tools under the name ARNO Werkzeuge. Together, the two companies consistently focus on gaps in the market and always have their customers' wishes in mind.

In 1965, the company changed its name from ‘Emil Arnold’ to ‘Emil Arnold KG’. From then on, the company focussed on the manufacture of special tools and devices for special machines as well as the series production of clamping tools. One year later, the two companies move to the Ruit Zinsholz industrial estate in Ostfildern.

ARNO AS ITS OWN DISTRIBUTOR

In 1967, the sale of indexable carbide inserts for turning and milling began. In the following years, ARNO opens up further gaps in the market together with its own production at Emil Arnold.

After a development period of just one year, the mini copying system with a new, patent-protected clamping system is developed. Further developments of in-house tools follow in 1981.

1987 - 2009

EXPANSION AND DEVELOPMENT OF PRODUCTION

Klaus-Michael Arnold joins the company in 1987. Two years later, he enters the field of grinding technology. 1995 Emil Arnold GmbH & Co. KG is certified according to DIN ISO 9002, and ARNO Werkzeuge according to DIN EN ISO 9001.

Klaus-Michael Arnold, appointed Managing Director in 1992, and Josef Storf, appointed Managing Director in 2002, continuously expand the product range in the spirit of the company founder and look for new sales channels.

In 2004, the time had come: the first foreign branch was founded in England, already established via sales partners. Italy and the USA soon followed.

In 2008, the first construction phase of the new building will be inaugurated, comprising a total of around 2,250 square metres for production, office space and a state-of-the-art, fully automated storage system.

PATENTS AND INNOVATIONS

Several new products are introduced in the following years: SA-part-off tools, the AMS mini system, the SIM boring bars and the AKB short-hole drill. Further gaps in the market are filled with the FTA, Duo-Mill and Roc-Mill milling systems.

In 2011, Emil Arnold and ARNO Werkzeuge employ 160 people on an operating area of around 10,000 square metres. 2014 sees the establishment of a subsidiary in Singapore, South East Asia. In addition, the innovative ACS cooling system is launched on the market.

In 2016, the construction of the extension in Karlsbader Straße begins, including an expansion of the production area.

EVERYTHING UNITED

Two years after the start of construction, the company moves into the new building. The new building means an additional 2,250 square metres of office and production space. It doubles ARNO Werkzeuge's storage, logistics, quality and office space.

Further milestones in product development include the AWL tool holder with patented cooling technology and the AFC fast-change system.

In 2021, Jacqueline Arnold and Simon Storf will join the management team after several years of active service. ARNO Werkzeuge thus sends an early signal to employees and customers that the company has long-term plans for the future and wants to continue to grow. In the same year, the companies Emil Arnold GmbH & Co. KG and Karl-Heinz Arnold GmbH merge.

2023 ARNO Werkzeuge creates a 150 square metre training workshop, offering technical trainees a first-class learning environment with outstanding equipment. In addition, over 200 employees are recorded in Germany for the first time.
