For indexable inserts that need to deliver extra-long tool life and top surfaces for turning applications on steel, iron or cast materials, we use cermet.
Cermet is a composite material. Its base consists of ceramic and several metals, with cobalt acting as the binder. What characterises indexable inserts made of cermet is that they are hard and low-wear. In practice, this means high stability and impressive precision. You should always use cermet indexable inserts on the machine if you are cutting materials that tend to stick - for example steels, stainless steels, cast iron and iron.
Cermet is a great cutting material for cutting tools. We do everything we can to ensure that its outstanding properties are fully utilised during roughing, finishing and grooving.

Even uncoated, the cutting material Cermet delivers top performance in terms of surface quality and tool life. ARNO offers two uncoated Cermet grades: ACE 6 and AP6010.
